on my mind

on my mind: the 70s

I've always been a 90s girl (minimalism, Manolos and CBK) but as I dream about summer days and upcoming travels, I am really feeling the late 70s with a Phoebe Philo touch.

I recently bought a pair of See by Chloe high-waisted flares (they fit like a dream!) that sort of inspired my this vibe — I can't wait to wear them with shrunken white tees and fitted polos. I've always loved a polo shirt, perhaps inspired by my youthful golfing days. But not just any polo — no logos, a perfect fit, delicate buttons (Toteme uses mother of pearl buttons), and only in black or white. Lastly, because the 70s isn't the 70s without throwback shades, I have been ogling Celine's summer 2018 sunglass collection. Call me crazy but I just bought this pair for my trip to LA and I plan on wearing them all summer long.

The advertisements of the late ’70s and early ’80s—this woman on the Avenue Foch in Paris. They had pleated skirts and big hairdos. And the other thing was that they were quite a lot older and proud in their feeling about clothes.

on my mind: sunglasses

I am very particular about sunglasses — when I find a pair I love, I wear them for years (literally), so I always find a need to add a new pair to my collection.

When looking for the perfect sunglasses, the fit, shape, versatility and designer all go into my consideration. Rather than following seasonal trends, I prefer classic styles and colors (black and tortoiseshell, always) and invest in quality. I find that when you do invest in a quality pair, you're less likely to regrettably leave them in the backseat of an Uber.

Tip: to avoid faux lighting, always try sunglasses on a sunny day and ask a sales associate if you can step outside the store with a handheld mirror. I did this one time at the Dior Beverly Hills and it ultimately changed my big decision making purchase.

Below are sunglasses I'm loving right now for summer 2017.

on my mind: colored fur

It's no secret that I've always loved fur, but this season I'm really feeling fun fur in shades of blue, green, and even blush tone pinks. Given that I'm slightly allergic to color, especially in the cooler months, I'm going to take this as an opportunity to not wear head-to-toe black or grey, and add some color to my Christmas list.

Not quite Celine but these luxe silk stripe pajamas by Olivia von Halle will most certainly do for all your upcoming travels, all-day movie marathons or holiday hosting needs. Just add a pair of velvet mules or bejeweled slides and you'll be queen of chic.
