fall/winter beauty

The change in season means a change in your beauty routine. Much like my wardrobe, I strongly believe in updating my hair and make-up routine seasonally. I know some girls who have their signature look and haven't changed a thing for years, which I applaud, but I am that girl who makes a next-day hair appointment the second I want bangs or a blunt cut.

One thing I do every fall is chop off my summer layers in lieu of a chic, shoulder-length cut. The other day I just chopped off 4" of dead ends and I feel like a new human. Next, I book a Brazilian Blowout appointment (game-changing for those with unruly hair) and purchase any new hair products or tools that will save me from relying on weekly blowouts. Right now I love air-dried hair (massaged with a small amount of Philip B anti-frizz serum) then tousled with a 1.5" curling iron and finished with Ouai finishing creme. Easy, breezy.

Secondly, my make-up. With the cooler months approaching, I focus on on eyes and lips. Right now I'm all about that natural (wind-chapped or red wine stained?) lip and bold brow look, so I'm loving moisturizing lip stains and new brow products or techniques. My current favorite lip stain is Becca beach tint [in papaya]. Bonus: it has vitamin e and also doubles as a cheek tint. As for brows, lucky for me I already found my holy grail brow pencil in the most perfect shade (auburn) to match my natural red hair at Duane Reade a few years ago and I've never looked back. One thing I avoid is waxing or threading because I prefer a fuller, more natural brow. To achieve that supermodel look, opt for a soft brow pencil and slightly fill in the arch to give your brow a lift. It's like browtox. You'll love it, I promise.
