the white sneaker

I've always chosen comfort when it comes to footwear so over time I've grown a silent collection of sneakers. Silent, because on most occasions I opt for a flat or mule, even in the dead of winter.  But I really do love the ease of a good sneaker — they're unfussy and can be worn with just about everything (dresses, skirts, trousers, etc).

Over the years I've gone through three pairs of white, low top CdG Converse, my first pair dating back to high school! I also went through a strong Golden Goose phase a few years back because the pre-distressed condition was ideal for walking around the city (I think this is the #1 reason why hundreds of girls wear them in NYC). Both sneaker options are fun and reliable, but I'm always on the hunt for a more interesting alternative.

Nowadays, my go-to style is a more classic canvas or leather white sneaker. Last season I fell in love with Celine's '70s-style plimsole, as seen on the Spring/Summer 17 runway. This style will never not be cool, so after many white sneaker try-ons I finally purchased a pair with the classic red accents. I can't wait to wear them year round!

What is so great though about the white sneaker craze is that you can find a pair at any price point. Scroll below for my choice of anything but basic (no Stan Smith or Superga here!) white sneaker options.
