the spring 18 edit

With summer and holidays right around the corner, I've started to purchase a few must-have things that I can't wait to wear all season long. When I'm not living in my favorite denim and a white or black tee, I live for a relaxed vacation wardrobe — i.e., coordinated sets, wide leg trousers, silk pajamas disguised as evening wear. There's something about these garments that says 'I'm on vacation and can't be bothered, but I still look chic.'

When I'm not also living in flat sandals, I plan on wearing these newly acquired slides by Loewe. I love the minimalist design, (navy suede) baby block heel, and most of all, how sharp they look with just about anything. Did I mention they're also on sale right now? I was easily sold. Below is a preview of my spring 18 edit. To see more seasonal additions visit the shop my style page.

spring/summer beauty

With summer near (and welcoming east coast humidity and long days spent at the beach), I'm starting to think about what I want to do with my hair again — chop it off again, grow it out, get a keratin treatment? I go back and forth between a 90s Christy Turlington coiffed bob or easy, lived-in waves. The later requires much less maintenance but I do love a sleek blow out.

Ever since cutting my hair into a chin-length bob, I have discovered a love for hair accessories. Clips, barrettes, bobby pins, hair ties. It's fun way to play with hair (especially on uncooperative hair days), and I love that they sort of act as jewelry, like my new pearl barrette that can dress up any look.

As for hair care, I've recently gone back to this shampoo and conditioner ('LOVE' for wavy hair) and this hair mask ('NOUNOU'). I'm not sure why I ever departed from this sustainable brand in the first place because not only does it smell amazing, but it's incredibly gentle on my hair, leaving it soft and nourished, even in the driest of months. Also, how chic is the packaging?

what to pack: Miami edition

I love a quick weekend trip to South Beach, Miami. Only a 2 hour and something flight from JFK, and guaranteed sun and fun (i.e., long dinners, early morning walks on the beach, poolside margaritas and guacamole, and for me, minimal makeup and hair care).

When traveling to Miami, or any other nearby beach destination, I always pack light. I like to know exactly what I will wear each night so the entire process is very formulaic. The daytime is spent laying out at the pool, beach or boat, so cover-ups (one or two options) and swimsuits (two, max) can be re-worn throughout the trip, making packing and getting dressed a lot easier.

Shown below is my upcoming packing list, give or take a few other miscellaneous items like off-white jeans, denim jacket and a straw tote

I plan on wearing this shirt with the matching shorts on night one. An easy vacation look when paired with these silk slides, Celine pendant necklace and a slicked back bun.

Hunza G

This one-size-fits-all seersucker swimsuit is in one word: everything. Chic, practical (just enough coverage) and comfortable. Note: I have an abnormally long torso, so this style works on all body types.

Simone Rocha

This little flower pearl barrette is the best answer to humidity and post-beach hair — I plan on wearing it poolside to tame my unruly hair, or at night with a dress.

Acne Studios

I never leave home without an oversized white shirt. It doubles as an easy travel look and my swimsuit cover-up of choice. This one by Acne is my favorite, but if you're looking for something more travel-friendly, this shirt is a great option, too.

The Row

My plan is to wear these slides both nights and to breakfast in the morning, too. I always prefer an evening slide to a heel (because, comfort) and they take up a lot less space in your luggage.

These sunglasses are my new signature style, and I love wearing them both indoors and outdoors (obnoxious? Maybe).

This knit polo dress is one of my favorite dresses in my closet. It's the perfect cover-up, throw-on dress (who doesn't want to look nice on vacation, even at the breakfast table?) or nighttime (love the side slits) look that can be dressed up or down.

I've had this plastic bag (with the leather pouch) for a few months now and I am continually amazed at how functional and versatile it really is.
